We run it. You practise law.
A managed deployment means we operate your firm’s own instance: updates applied and verified, backups taken and rehearsed, monitoring on, support answered by the engineers who built it. One monthly figure per firm — no per-seat maths, and no charge for your clients using the portal.
An operated service, not a withheld licence
The software is open source under Apache 2.0 — you can run it yourself at any time. What we sell is the operations: the thing a busy firm should not be doing on a Friday afternoon.
- Updates applied for you — verified before release, checkable afterwards, reversible if needed.
- Backups and rehearsed restores — with restore targets in the service terms.
- Monitoring and incident response — defined severities, defined response times.
- Onboarding that fits the practice — procedures, templates, trust rules, migration plan.
Prefer to keep the infrastructure in your own accounts? That is the bring-your-own-account option on the main pricing page — same software, your meter.
Three managed tiers, priced per firm
Priced by the size of the practice, not by the number of people who log in. Client portal users are never counted.

On the numbers: pilot firms are priced individually while we finish packaging — use the estimator below for the shape of the fee, and treat the final figure as something agreed in writing, not a list price we invented to look definitive.
Shape your own figure
Placeholder rates, so you can see how the fee moves with size and support level. Nothing is sent anywhere — this runs in your browser.
Only what you actually need
Extra storage
Priced per additional 100 GB per month, or keep documents in storage you control and pay nothing to us for them.
Additional firm or office
A separate instance for each office or associated practice — isolation is per entity, not per logo.
Migration programme
Historic matters, documents and client records moved across with you reviewing each batch.
Extended support hours
Earlier, later and weekend cover for firms whose deadlines do not respect office hours.
Procedure building workshop
A half-day with your team turning the firm’s best matters into blueprints the whole practice can run.
Integrations we build with you
Your accounts package, your website, your CRM — scoped as a fixed piece of work, then maintained.
The missing line items are the point
- Client portal users. Your clients are the reason you have a practice, not a billing meter.
- Another firm’s infrastructure. No pooled database, no shared storage, nothing to cross-subsidise.
- Security updates. Patches and security fixes are part of the service, never a paid upgrade.
- Taking your data out. There is no exit fee for leaving with your own file.
- The audit trail. Evidence of what happened should never be a premium add-on.
Boring, predictable, documented
In advance, monthly or annually
Annual payment carries a discount. Nothing is charged before the instance is live.
One invoice per firm
Offices and associated practices are itemised on the same invoice, per instance.
Upgrades pro-rata
Growing mid-term is a pro-rata adjustment, not a renegotiation.
60 days’ notice on price changes
Effective at renewal, never retroactively. Cancel before the change lands if you disagree.
The commercial questions firms ask
Because we would rather price the pilot with the firms running it than publish a number we might have to move. The estimator shows how the fee behaves; the order form contains the figure, and it does not change mid-term without notice.
Usually yes, and deliberately so — you are buying the operations: updates, backups, monitoring, restores and support. Firms with strong IT often self-host; firms whose IT is a partner with better things to do usually prefer managed.
Third-party services your firm chooses to enable — e-signature, payment gateways, SMS and messaging, AI usage above your allowance — plus taxes. All are itemised or opt-in, and none of them are required to run a practice on OpenLPM.
Yes. The software is the same; the standard migration path to your own deployment is included in the service, with a handover window so you can verify the result before anything is deleted.
